Frequently Asked Questions
Chemical Peels

How do I know which peel is right for me?

Your PCA Skin Certified Professional has been trained in the safe and effective application of each of our professional treatment products. This education, in conjunction with their professional licensure, allows them to not only choose a treatment appropriate for your skin type, but also customize the treatment to address your personal skin care needs.

How much discomfort should be expected during a peel?
The level of discomfort experienced depends on the treatment. Most PCA Skin chemical peels are gentle and create minimal to know burning or stinging sensations on the skin. Dramatic wrinkling, sun damage, or acne scars may require a deeper peel, which may cause moderate stinging for a few minutes. Deep peels are not necessary for most skin types and conditions.

Can people who are frequently in the sun receive peels?
Yes, but only if they use sunscreen protection every day. Sunbathing should be avoided due to an increased risk of skin cancer and premature aging, but especially prior to treatment, directly following a treatment, and while the skin is peeling. If you are receiving peel treatments to reduce skin discoloration (hyperpigmentation), it is imperative to use the appropriate PCA Skin skin-brightening products as well as a broad-spectrum SPF product daily, and avoid unnecessary sun exposure to reduce the chance of further hyperpigmentation.

Will a chemical peel make thin skin even thinner?
No. Having a PCA Skin chemical peel will remove surface buildup, hydrate the skin, and give it a plumper, "thicker" appearance. The use of topical vitamin C, retinoids and peptide products in treatment, as well as in a daily care regimen, will help build the collagen and elastin network in the skin, thus making it stronger and more durable.

Are there any treatments that are safe for rosacea?
PCA Skin offers many options to help control rosacea. Our gentle TCA and lactic acid blends are wonderful choices for rosacea. Esthetique Peel, Ultra Peel 1, and Sensi Peel all fight bacteria, reduce inflammation, and help promote healthy skin. Rosacea is best controlled with a combination of medical therapies, including chemical peel treatments, daily care products, and lifestyle considerations.

Spray Tanning

How long should my tan last?
The average result is 7 to 10 days of color. Factors such as skin type, activities, and maintenance can cause your results to vary. Ask your personal tanning consultant for more info on how to maintain your tan.

Is it safe?
Yes. The main ingredient in our sunless tanning product is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is a simple non-toxic sugar. It is often derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane. DHA is FDA approved. If you have any health conditions or concerns, you should consult with your physician prior to your first appointment.

How long does a tanning session take?
On average, a full body session takes about 10 minutes (not including setup time).

How much does it cost?
See our
Pricing/Packages page for detailed information on cost.

How should I prepare for my appointment?
See the instructions in the section below.

Can I still go out in the sun or tan in a tanning bed?
Yes, however be very careful not to burn your skin. The spray tan does not protect your skin from the sun, so you should apply sunblock or take other preventative measures to avoid burning your skin. If you do burn and peel it could make the spray tan look uneven, so be cautious.

Will the spray tan cover up my tattoos or hurt them in any way?
No, the spray tan is safe for your existing tattoos and it will not cover them up.

Will I turn orange?
No, you will not turn orange. The orange color some people have experienced after a spray tan is due to low grade tanning solution. Blondie's Tan uses a high grade tanning solution. If you're still not convinced, check out our client photos in the Photo Gallery.

Preparing for your tan:

  • Exfoliate your skin prior to your appointment. This promotes even coverage and lengthens the duration of your tan by removing dead skin that would otherwise flake off.
  • If you plan on waxing, wax at least 8 hours prior to your appointment and avoid waxing for at least a few days after the tan.
  • Avoid wearing makeup/moisturizer as this acts as a barrier to the spray.
  • Wear whatever you are comfortable with (suggested attire is dark-colored underwear or swimsuit). The cosmetic bronzer may rub off on clothing/sheets, however it will wash out of most fabrics. Nylons, lycra, silk, and leather should be avoided until your first post-tan shower (minimum of 8 hours after tan).
How does spray tanning work?
A trained professional sprays the special tanning formula onto your body. The amino acids in your skin will respond naturally to the DHA and other complementary ingredients in the tanning formula to produce the most beautiful sunless tan you've ever seen. Our spray tan eliminates the mess and problems associated with tanning creams and spray tan booths. There is no streaky mess, orange palms, or dirty looking knees and elbows.

With Blondie's Tan and Spa, you receive a personal treatment tailored to your individual needs. No two people are alike, and your spray tan should suit you and your skin type.
